Radio career
As a pioneer in the haitian music scene, Jacques started his broadcasting career as “Mr Cool” in 1980 on Port-au-Prince’s Radio Galope, originally a pirate radio station, and after it gained a license in 1985. Jacques was both a daytime DJ and director.
Behind the decks Jacques cut his teeth as a DJ with Konpa se Konpa and promoted numerous night clubs including Café des arts. With a stint behind the scenes in A&R at Chateau Royal, Jacques was instrumental in the careers of D’Angelo, Wilfrid Paul and Carrine Duvivier.
In 2008, Jacques moved to Radio HNL to present the first ever national Racine show zantray lakay and a year later began a Saturday afternoon programme which resulted in his winning an HMI Award in 2015 as Best DJ.
Jacques currently broadcasts across the radio networks. He previously presented weekdays, Monday to Friday 10:00pm until 12:00am show on Radio HNL Xtra, and he started presenting Folklore Nation on Saturday evenings on HNL Live Radio in July 2016, replacing his Wednesday evening soul show.
